Grant was a homeless cat, whereas Barry was not. Barry was from an apartment building across the street – I’m not sure how he made it alive each night because that was a very busy street with cars speeding by.

When I first met Grant it was in November of 2007. He had a sibling, which I was not sure if it was a male or female because the sibling was a lot shyer than Grant. I have been feeding them straight for a year, well, Grant anyways. The last time I seen Grant’s sibling was about June of 2008.

I’m not sure what happened to him/her. The area was infested was raccoons and other stray cats, so I’m not sure if he/she was a victim of unfortunate circumstances. It was really sad for Grant because I’ve seen how close the siblings were. When I feed them, they would share the food equally, maybe sometimes Grant got a little greedy and had a bit more – nevertheless they were very close. When Grant was left all alone, he got more and more close to me, this may be due to the fact his sibling was missing and he was lonely. Being alone also caused problems for Grant because other cats like Barry the Bully were attacking him. Barry caused the gash on his right ear. Grant had many scratches to his face and body caused by Barry. He also had severe injuries to his paws. But not to worry, all injuries were attended to. I even placed a blue flea collar on Grant - I orginally put a white collar on him but he lost it in less than a week. I guess he didn't like the color.

When the cold October wind came blowing by, to keep him warm, I started feeding Grant in the stairway of my apartment. (I couldn’t bring him into my apartment because I already had two cats – yes, Sam and Roy).
